If you don't look the part, don't expect any service - Sir

So, I'm in the bank this afternoon and witnessed the counter staff actively encouraging a man NOT to open an account with them. Sure - he looked about 20 years old, was a little scruffy with a lot of paint, dust and dirt on his clothes - but he had clearly just finished his shift or a hard days work - or whatever. He had a small bundle of cheques and about £100 in cash in his hand and was trying to ascertain if he should be opening a business or a personal account.

"No, it would be quite a lot of hassle and paperwork - Sir."

Accompanied by zero eye contact and a complete lack of interest in dealing with someone who was't wearing a suit, the potential account holder left feeling that he was clearly missing something in our customer focussed banking system. The world's 'local bank' at its very best. Well done.
